About Me
Hello! My name is Tami Saito and I am a Kindergarten grade teacher here at Wailuku Elementary School. I am excited to return back to my former school where I first began my education. Scroll down to learn a little bit more about me.
My Education
I attended Wailuku Elementary School. I was born and raised on the island of Maui. After high school, I received my Associates Degree from the University of Hawai'i Maui College in Liberals Arts and then graduated from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. In the search to further my education, I applied for the Master's for Education in Educational Technology Program and graduated in 2014. I am currently going back to school to further my education.
I knew I wanted to teach on Maui so I chose the distance education method for my degrees. By learning at a distance, I was able to work hand-in-hand with some great teachers here on Maui. I have worked with all age levels. While being a full-time student, I received my substitute teacher's license in 2013 and have substituted in the grades K-12.

My Interests/Hobbies
I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, playing different instruments in various music ensembles, taking pictures, cooking/baking, and being artsy. So far, I have traveled to three different places outside of the United States which are Japan, Europe, and Canada. Music plays an important part in my life and you will definitely see all sorts of creatively and arts incorporated into our class. I am a part of the Maui Community Band group that performs at different community events, as well as the H.P Baldwin High School music program. My main instrument that I play is the clarinet. However, I also play the bass clarinet, alto sax, bari sax, trumpet, and baritone. During the Fall season, I volunteer my time as the color guard coach with the H.P Baldwin High School marching band.
Teaching Philosophy
My beliefs on teaching are short and simple- Everyone Can. It is my mission to instill in my students the belief that they can do anything they set their mind to, and with my help I hope to guide them along that path.
